I asked a really stupid question of my brother yesterday morning. We have a pretty serious family situation going on now that requires assistance from all of the family members. My brother received a phone call late Monday night from one of our cousins. Jim, my brother detailed what he knew of the situation in an email to the rest of us. The second line of his email asked for prayers around. Well, after talking about what needed to be done, I told my brother that I didn’t know if I could do anything to help, given our financial situation and the distance. He told me to reread the second line of his email.

I have often been asked to pray for people. I am sure lots of people have. But, I sometimes look at prayer as a non-act; something people are asked to do to make them feel better. Many times my response (to myself, not aloud) is –No what can I DO-. I want to be involved in whatever is going on. I want to be on the front lines. I have a feeling that I want people to say I couldn’t have done this without Steve. Steve is my hero. He is the greatest. And they would be right- in my opinion, anyway. But now, with the current situation, I am asked to pray.
Pray for Chris, Anna, Ayita, Kimana, Nicomo, Betty and Gregg. And me too, that I won’t get an ego anymore.
